Once we have the core sections of a new piece identified and partially shaped with a basic ‘guide track’, Spike (our Producer/Bass Player) then starts to build the arrangement with other instruments. For this session we continue to work on Psalm 110, and Matt and Spike are working with Rod, our drummer/percussionist, on the various possibilities for the drum and percussion parts.
This will usually see us trying different variations and often layering those up to create a big full sound.
We work in sections through the song. Here Rod is laying down a drum guide track which, once finalised, will be re-recorded as part of the final recording process.
