Studio Session Psalm 80

It was great to have our good friend Jared Haschek in the studio to work with Spike on this one. As we continue re-imagining some of our older tracks, we’re at the early stages of a new version of Psalm 80 a communal lament, attributed to Asaph, expressing Israel’s deep distress and longing for restoration. The psalm portrays God as the Shepherd of Israel, emphasising His care and guidance. It uses vivid imagery, such as Israel being a vine brought out of Egypt, now in ruins due to divine withdrawal. The repeated refrain, “Restore us, O God; let your face shine, that we may be saved,” underscores the central theme of repentance and divine favour. The psalmist pleads for God’s intervention, recalling His past mercies and expressing hope for renewal and salvation.
